About
Hall & Mercer is a haberdasher that kept its counters when it would have been easier to become a concept. The Taipei floor still sells ribbon, thread, and the occasional serious coat.
The atrium with Kei Botanics sits on its roof. The shop did not rename itself for the garden.

The counter stays
Hall & Mercer published a photograph of the ribbon drawers and nothing of the atrium. The caption says the stairs are at the back, behind the buttons, where they have always been. Regulars are not a segment.

Behind the buttons
The camera follows a pair of shoes from the street door to the stair. Buttons, then dimmer light, then the first warm breath of the atrium. It cuts before any plant is named. The route is the film.
